Hi, my name is John-Ward Leighton, I’m your neighbor in H209. I have been a member of FOUR SISTERS HOUSING CO-OP since July of 2007. Since moving in I have been active with the Security committee and the Membership committee and since the last AGM a two year member of your Co-op Board.
Along with Bob Cole and Ken Bayfield and the other members of the Newsletter committee we have decided, with the full support of the Co-op Board , to resurrect our semi moribund newsletter into an online “zine” with hard copy produced every quarter for those of you who do not have computer access.
Our mission is to enhance and improve communications within the Co-op and provide the members with the information they need to be fully functioning Co-op members.
We will also be active promoters of the Co-op way of life in the greater community.
We also intend to actively report on the rapidly changing nature of our immediate neighborhood. We cannot merely shelter behind our Co-op walls and be oblivious to the pain and tragedy in the streets around us. To be silent in these matters is to be complicit.
I would remind everyone that we have operating computers with internet access in the Co-op office open to members during working hours Monday through Thursday.
We will also keep the membership advised about the functioning of the various committees providing a secure site where the minutes of meetings can be read with all the suitable provision for privacy.
