Christmas is the time of year when one reflects, for good or bad, on many things that have come to pass in one’s life. I am choosing to reflect on a good thing as I am sitting here, cozy and warm in my Co-op apartment. I am coming up on my one year anniversary of returning to the Co-op after an eight year absence, and would like to reflect on what an amazing place this is, and how thankful I am that I was welcomed back.
Apart from the incredible physical and unique environment of our three different buildings with their roof decks, gardens, views, and courtyard, we have an equally unique and diverse group of people who reside here. Some of these people have been here since the beginning of the Co-op, and others have been here for various periods of time, with all giving a sense of continuity. To me, the wonder and beauty of the Co-op is that it is like a large, extended family and community, and like any family and community, we have our quirks, differences, and dysfunctions. Yet, all these tend to diminish and go away when there is a “feel good” general meeting, where things are discussed and voted on, there are wonderful “family like” Christmas parties and late Summer barbeques, and there is the ubiquitous committee work, where members valiantly and freely give of themselves to the Co-op.
Seeing the Co-op decked out in a huge mantle of snow this past week has made it even more beautiful and picturesque, and added something special to the Season. Am I glad to be back living here? You bet. I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all our members for choosing to live here, and at this time of year, wish everyone all the best for the Holiday Season and year to come.

I check in to the co-op blog whenever I see that there are new posts on here and I think it is great!
Makes me even want to write something every now and then.
I would like to make a request that whoever it is that is writing these posts take credit for them!
Use your name, don’t be shy it is a great way to get to know others in the co-op. I mean if I knew who “R.” was I might say something to you next time I saw you in the hall… but alas I have no idea if you are the “R.” 3 doors down from me or the “R.” over in the High Rise or maybe you are just some “R.” that has hacked in to our interweb and is posting on here because they want to be part of our lovely community and are stuck on a waiting list
So use your real name let people know who you are and take credit for the time and effort you are putting into make our community what it is
Cheers,

Hi Q.,
Thanks for your comment. I hope you do contribute–art, prose, photos, co-op articles, heck, we’ll take it all.
The newsletter committee has not yet established a privacy protocol for publishing names. We’re still working on this. However, names are published in the printed version of the newsletter which is distributed locally.
